PURPOSE:To facilitate the handling of starting and stopping by substituting a supplying system of fuel with steam in replacement of protective gas such as nitrogen gas etc. CONSTITUTION:For example, in order to start a power generation system, a methanol reformer 7 is raised to given temperature by burning methanol. After heating a stack 12, water from a water pump 5 is supplied to a reacting pipe 9. The water is changed to steam since the reacting pipe 9 is heated, and the steam is supplied into the stack 12 and passages for the fuel are substituted with the steam. Whereby, fuel remaining in the system is eliminated. And thereafter, a methanol pump 4 is started to carry out reforming reaction, and the steam is supplied to the stack 12, and the temperature of the reformer 7 and the stack 12 is raised up to given temperature while initiating starting reaction. Whereby, it is possible to facilitate the handling of starting and stopping. |
