PURPOSE:To execute element analysis without vapor deposition by freezing a liquid sample held to the assemblage of a sponge or needle-like member consisting of a conductive material. CONSTITUTION:The metallic sponge enclosed by a 'Mylar(R)' film is contained in a vessel and the vessel is impregnated into liquid nitrogen, by which the liquid crystal held in the sponge is frozen. The sponge is mounted on the cooled stage in the sample chamber of an X-ray microanalyzer and electron rays are irradiated thereon. The characteristic X-rays generated from the frozen sample are separated into spectral components by a spectroscope, by which the element analysis is executed. Then the irradiated electron rays flow to a mirror body without electrofying the metallic sponge and therefore there is no need for executing vapor deposition for preventing charge-up and the easy element analy sis of the liquid sample by the X-ray microanalyzer is made possible. |
