The anthracene derivatives, which are suitable as sensitisers for photo-crosslinkable polymer systems have the structure of the formula I <IMAGE> in which p is 1 or 2, q is 0 or 1, with the proviso that the sum p+1 is 1 or 2, each substituent R, independently of one another, is a radical of the formula II -A-(Q)k (II), in which Q represents a radical -COZR<2>, Z is -O- or -NR<3>- and R<2> denotes hydrogen, straight-chain or branched C1-C18-alkyl, straight-chain or branched C3-C18-alkenyl, C3-C12cycloalkyl or C7-C9aralkyl, and R<3>, if Z is -NR<3>-, is hydrogen or straight-chain or branched C1-C18alkyl, or R<2> and R<3> together with the joint nitrogen atom form a five- or six-membered heterocyclic ring; or Q is a radical -OX, in which X adopts one of the meanings of R<3> or is -COR<4>, and R<4> is hydrogen, straight-chain or branched C1-C18alkyl, straight-chain or branched C3-C18alkenyl or C3-C12cycloalkyl, or Q is a radical -CN, in which k is 1 or 2, A is a group of the formula III <IMAGE> in which n is an integer from 1 to 17, k is as defined above, R<5> and R<6> are identical or different and denote straight-chain or branched C1-C4alkyl, and, if Q is -COOR<2>, R<5> or R<6> can, if desired, carry a -COOR<2> group, in which the radical R<2> is identical to or different from the radical R<2> of the group Q, and in which, if R<5> or R<6> are substituted by -COOH, the compound of the formula I does not carry more than three COOH groups, or in which R<5> and R<6> are linked to the radical CnH2n+1-k such that a C5-C12cycloalkyl ring is formed which carries the radical -(COOR<2>)k, in which the radicals R<2> and the index k are as defined above, and the substituent R<1> is straight-chain or branched C1-C8alkyl, C7-C9aralkyl, which, if desired, carries one or two halogen atoms as substituents, or denotes a (C1-C4)alkyl-(C5-C12)cycloalkyl group; or in which R<1> is a radical of the formula II as defined above, in which, if R<1> is a radical of the formula II, the substituents R and R<1> can have the same or a different meaning; and salts of the compounds of the formula with organic or inorganic bases. |
