PURPOSE:To improve the conservation characteristic of a cell under high temperature and high humidity by containing a specific quantity of Bi in a Pd-Cd alloy to form the alloy reversibly occluding or releasing lithium at charging or discharging and used as a negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 2 made by kneading activated carbon powder in an aqueous dispersion of fluororesin is stored in a positive electrode case 1; it is faced via a separator to a negative electrode 5, which is stored in a sealing plate 4, made of 3-30wt% of Bi, 20-50wt% of Cd, and the remainder of Pb, and reversibly occluding or releasing lithium; and further a nonaqueous electrolyte containing lithium ions is injected to form a rechargeable cell. Accordingly, the lithium-occluding capability of Bi is high, its stability against moisture is excellent, thereby the conservation characteristic and heavy-duty discharge characteristic under high temperature and high humidity can be improved by containing a specific quantity of Bi. |
