PURPOSE:To improve inspecting efficiency in flaw detection in water, by visually judging the incident point of an ultrasonic wave beam on the surface of a body to be inspected by sing light, and facilitating the recognition of the flaw detecting path in the body to be inspected. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic wave beam 7, which is emitted from a probe 3, cannot be seen. The incident position of the ultrasonic wave beam on the surface of a body to be inspected cannot be seen. However, a light beam 13, which is emitted from a lens 21 on the central axis of the ultrasonic wave beam 7 and advances in the same direction, draws a bright spot on the surface of the body to be inspected. Therefore, it is readily judged that the bright spot is the incident point 8 of the ultrasonic wave beam. Therefore, a path 7' of the ultrasonic wave beam in the body top be inspected, i.e., what part is scanned for finding the flaw, can be readily estimated, by using a theoretical expression, based on the incident point 8, which is drawn as the bright spot on the surface of the body to be inspected, the incident angle, and the acoustic constants of the medium and the body to be inspected. |
