Process for the preparationof phenethylpiperidine compds. of formula (I) [R1 = H, halogen, C1-4 alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio; R2 = H, hydroxy, methoxy; R3,R4 = H, lower alkyl; X = NHCO, NHCS was described. Thus, 2-(0-amiophenethyl)-1-methylpiperidine in benzene treated with phenylisocyanate in benzene at room temp. to give title compds. The title compds are used as antiarrhythmics.
