1. The seat for a chair, seat which can rotate around a rotation axle, is linked to the chair only by means of a rotation axle, so that, when the chair is used, the base positions itself, automatically and therefore without the slightest special intervention of the user, into the position which ensures optimum comfort to this user. 2. Under the condition that the rotation axle of the seat has been intentionally moved out of the centre, that is to say placed nearer to the front than to the rear, and when the chair is not used, the seat for a chair, seat which can pivot around a rotation axle, takes up a vertical position. It is the underside of the seat which then becomes completely visible and which may therefore be used as an advertising support. <IMAGE>
