[Also in Division H2] In a circuit (Fig. 2) producing a non-linear voltage function of an input current function I, e.g. for operating a maximum current relay with delayed release dependent on current, a non-linear resistance network 1 in series with a variable resistance 4 accepts current I 2 to produce output voltage drop V, and a shunt comprising resistance 2, collector/emitter circuit of transistor 5, and variable resistor 3 accepts current I 2 ; the transistor base being connected to the junction of 1, 4. Then input current I = I 1 + I 2 and for all values of input so that the non-linear network current is maintained constant independently of input current. In modifications (Figs. 3, 4, not shown) the base/emitter drop in the transistor is compensated by a diode in series with resistance 4, or by a second transistor with collector/emitter circuit in series with 4 and base interconnected with base of the first transistor for energization over a further resistance from input current. Plural non-linear networks may be connected in parallel and shunted by a common transistor/resistance circuit. |
