PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate of perfumes, pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, etc., in high yield, by reacting a halogen compound such as 1-bromo-3-methyl-2-butene with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a specific palladium complex catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The beta,gamma-unsaturated aldehyde (e.g. 3-pentenal) can be prepared by reacting the halogen compound of formula I (R<1> is H or methyl; R<2> is H, alkyl, alkenyl or aryl; X is halogen) (e.g. 1-chloro-2-butene) with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a palladium complex catalyst of formula II(X' is halogen; R<3> is alkyl or aryl) [e.g. dibromobis(triphenylphosphine)palladium, etc.]. USE:Raw material or intermediate for polymeric compounds. |
