PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform real-time image pickup, by switching elements, which transmit and receive ultrasonic waves by a signal switching circuit having a simple structure by using an array probe, thereby obtaining ultrasonic--wave image pickup signals. CONSTITUTION:Based on clock signals CLK0X an CLK0Y, switching circuits 18A and 18Y for X and Y directions update the scanning positions in the X and Y directions. Therefore, at every time the scanning position is updated, an ultrasonic wave transmitting signal T is imparted to intended ultrasonic wave transmitting and receiving elements 19 and 20 through a switching part 18. Then the ultrasonic waves are transmitted to a body to be detected 31 from the elements 19. Meanwhile, the reflected ultrasonic waves from the body to be detected 31 are received and processed by a the receiving part 20 through the switching part 18. The receiving part 20 receives the signal T and the received ultrasonic wave signal S from the element 19 and the switching part 18, respectively, and rectifies and detects the signals. The amplified signal P is transmitted to a display device 22. The device 22 displays the ultrasonic wave image, based on detected flaw positions signals PX and PY from a detected- flaw-signal control part 21 and the signal P from the receiving part 20. |
