<p>PURPOSE:To detect the particulate collecting capacity of a trapper in an accurate manner as well as to perform its regeneration, by making a bypass passage open at a time when differential pressure in time of opening or closing the bypass passage of the trapper is larger than the setting value and simultaneously energizing an electric heater with a continuous rating current. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust control valve 4 is installed in a bypass passage 3 of a trapper 2. A difference between pressure to be detected by a back pressure sensor 5 when the exhaust control valve 4 closes the bypass passage and another pressure to be detected when it is opened is found. When this value is larger than the setting value, that is, the same pressure difference when the trapper almost becomes clogged, the exhaust control valve 4 is opened as long as for the specified time, and an electric heater 6 is energized with a current.</p> |
