PURPOSE:To provide the title sheet for thermal transfer recording capable of enhancing smoothness of a recording paper and enhancing adhesion of an ink material and showing a favorable transfer rate, wherein wax-coated regions are provided in addition to ink material coated regions in specified conditions on a base film. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the base film is divided into a plurality of regions, some of the regions are coated with an ink material which is heat- fusible or heat-sublimable, and regions 2 coated with an undercoating material such as a wax and an organic binder containing a white or colored pigment are provided every other region 1 or every several regions 1, thereby obtaining the objective sheet. In thermal transfer recording, the sheet is set in position, a recording paper is placed in contact with the sheet, then the entire part of the region 2 or a part thereof corresponding to the position of a predetermined picture element is heated to thermally transfer the undercoating material onto the recording paper, thereafter parts corresponding to the positions of predetermined picture elements of the regions 1 are heated to thermally transfer the ink material at the heated parts of the regions onto the paper, thereby obtaining recorded images. |
