PURPOSE:To prevent the production of smoke and the increase in the discharged quantity of nitrogen oxides, by providing a means for detecting the opening and closing speed of an accelerator pedal, and an exhaust gas recycling control means for maintaining or ending the recycling stoppage state of an exhaust gas recycling control valve. CONSTITUTION:In a step S5, the opening and closing speed theta of an accelerator pedal is calculated. When the accelerator pedal is sharply closed, steps S6-S8 are taken to set a prescribed time on a timer and keep an exhaust gas recycling valve closed. When the accelerator pedal is slowly depressed after the shifting of a transmission, steps S9, S12, S13 are taken to perform control to open the exhaust gas recycling valve. This results in preventing the production of smoke and the increase in the discharged quantity of nitrogen oxides. |
