PURPOSE:To shorten the access time by arranging thin film magnetic heads, whose number is equal to the number of recording tracks, in a line on an insulting substrate and providing an analog switch integrated circuit having switches required for selective switching of individual thin film magnetic heads. CONSTITUTION:A multitrack thin film magnetic head assembly 1 where plural thin film magnetic heads 3 and an analog switch integrated circuit 4 are provided on an insulating substrate 2 is fixed to and arranged on the radius of a disc 8 so that heads 3 face the recording face of the disc 8. Heads 3 access a designated recording address in accordance with the electric selecting operation for objective magnetic heads due to the operation of the analog switch integrated circuit 4, which is provided switches required for selective switching of individual thin film magnetic heads 3, and the rotating operation of the magnetic disc 8. By this constitution, the access time is shortened considerably in comparison with a mechanical access mechanism. |
