PURPOSE:To improve durability and to decrease output fluctuation after long- term use by providing a coated film consisting essentially of carbon black having <=25nm primary grain size, 500-1,100m<2>/g specific surface area and 5-9pH, magnetic powder and binder on a base body. CONSTITUTION:The carbon black having <=25nm primary grain size, 500-1,100m<2>/g specific surface area and 5-9pH is used as the carbon black for a magnetic tape. The magnetic paint is prepd. by using 80pts.wt. of such carbon black compounded with the magnetic powder and 20pts.wt. binder as the essential component. Such magnetic paint is coated on a polyester film and is dried then the film is cut to manufacture the magnetic tape. The durabil ity is thus improved and the output fluctuation after long-term use is decreased.
