PURPOSE:To reduce the shape and the weight by providing a stepdown chopper circuit at the output of a rectifying and smoothing circuit, thereby enhancing the efficiency of a stepping motor drive device itself. CONSTITUTION:A series circuit of a switching element Q1 and a circulating diode is connected in parallel with the output of a rectifying and smoothing circuit 7, a stepdown chopper circuit 9 connected in parallel with a series circuit of a choke coil L and a smoothing capacitor C2 is provided at both terminals of a diode D1, and the switching of the element Q1 is controlled by a switching controller 11. A coil current of a constant current is supplied to a motor coil 10 by a constant current drive circuit 12. Since the voltage is stepped down by a stepdown chopper, the voltage share of the constant-current circuit is less, and the switching loss can be reduced. Accordingly, the weight and the shape can be reduced as compared with the conventional circuit to obtain the high speed acceleration of the stepping motor to the maximum limit. |
