Equipment and process for reducing fine-grained ores

Equipment for reducing fine-grained ores consists of an upper mixing and drying part, a reducing part in the middle and a lower cooling and discharge part. The reducing part consists of a vertical chamber oven with reduction chambers and heating chambers with heating of the heating chambers by recycled top gas from the reducing chambers. The upper part of the chamber oven 1 contains a mixing drier, in which paddles seated on two horizontal shafts are arranged in a double-walled trough. The trough is heated by flue gas. A horizontal conveyor 18 transfers the reduction material via filling shafts 19 into the reducing chambers 2. In the lower cooling and discharge part, the reduced material is cooled by means of plate heat exchangers 5. The ore is advantageously dried in a shaft drier which is fed with excess flue gas and exhaust vapours. In the equipment, for example fine-grained iron ore can be reduced, to the exclusion of air, by means of air-dried bagasse and/or fine-grained nutty coal particles.
