<p>An apparatus for sawing aluminium extrusions 21,21', 21''... to selected lengths, comprises a sawing machine 12, conveying means 11 for conveying aluminium extrusions to said sawing machine, and means 14 downstream of said sawing machine for supporting the extrusions when cut to said selected lengths, wherein a linear motor (15 Fig. 1) is located beneath the supporting means 14 on which, in use, scrap ends and aluminium swarf are located, the apparatus also being provided with means (16) for operating the motor.
