PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance, resistance to skin chaps and capability of accient prevention of rolls, by providing a composite roll formed in 3 layers consisting of a high chrome cast iron outer layer, a Ni-Cr cast iron intermediate layer and a ductile cast iron inner layer, as a work roll of a finish mill, etc., in a continuous hot thin-sheet rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:A composite roll of 3 layers construction formed by centrifugal casting is used as a work roll for a finish mill in a continuous hot thin-sheet rolling mill or a work roll for a continuous cold rolling mill. The outer layer is formed with a high Cr cast iron containing 1-2% Ni, 10-25% Cr, and 0.5- 1.5% Mo, and having 70-80HS hardness, the intermediate layer is formed with a Ni-Cr cast iron containing 8-20% Ni, <5% Cr, <0.5% Mo, and <0.1% Ti, and the inner layer formed with a ductile cast iron containing 0.03-0.1% Mg, and these layers are melt-stuck into one body. The outer layer is made further to contain both or either of <1.0% Nb and <1.0% V to make the cast structure of the outer layer fine according to demand. |
