PURPOSE:To improve the build-up resistance of a hearth roll by forming the surface of the roll with a substance contg. a prescribed percentage of Nb. CONSTITUTION:The titled hearth roll is obtd. by sticking a thin Nb alloy plate to the surface of a heat resistanct steel roll or by forming the surface of a roll with a substance contg. 15-20% Nb by two-layer centrifugal casting or other method. The hearth roll shows superior build-up resistance in a continuous steel annealing furnace, and it enables the continuous annealing of steel without causing bouid-up. |
