The invention relates to a device on a three-point safety belt for vehicles with a lap belt and a chest belt which form a continuous loop which extends between two braces fastened on both sides of the vehicle seat, one of which is designed as a belt lock, and a sliding clamp which is arranged in the region of the side panel of the vehicle which is behind the back of the seat and which diverts the chest belt towards its return springs and the catch mechanism, to keep the chest belt loose when the safety belt is on and in so doing to eliminate the pressure otherwise imparted by this part of the belt to the thorax, which is unpleasant or harmful for many people. Without impairing the functioning of the safety belt as a restraining element, especially in collisions, a device is provided on the safety belt, which is characterised by a wedge-shaped clamp plate, which can be inserted into the slot-like aperture of the sliding clamp and can therefore be brought into contact with the safety belt in a clamping manner and blocks the return springs of the latter.
