An uncured modified rubber compsn. (I) is obtained by heating to at least 140 deg.C in the absence of vulcanising and curing agents a mixt. comprising: (a) at least one rubber contg. unsatd. carbon chains (II); and (b) a minor property-improving amt. of at least one 2-benzothiazyl sulphenamide deriv. (III): R = independently, H, 1-12C alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aryl gp.; or both are ethylene gps. where terminal carbons are joined through oxygen to form a morphinyl gp. The method of modifying the compsn. properties with (III) and a filled vulcanisate compsn. (IV) based on (I) are also claimed. |
