PURPOSE:To obtain a stable image for a long period of time by providing a blasting means for feeding clean air to the inside of a plate for shielding through an aperture separate from an aperture for corona discharge provided to the plate for shielding and operating continuously said means during the relative moving period of a corona discharge treatment device and a body to be electrostatically charged. CONSTITUTION:The blast from a blasting device 37 is subjected to dust removal and dehumidification and is positively introduced through a blast duct 35 and the aperture 34a for gas inflow into the space in the shielding plate 32. Such blast is blown out as an air curtain e1 of a blow-off system through the aperture 34 for corona discharge. The inflow of the external air (c) contg. dust and drum air d1 into the space in the shielding member from the discharge aperture 34 side is prevented by such air curtain e1. An air flow regulating plate 36 is provided in the dust 35 in order to apply approximately uniform and strong blast flow to each longitudinal part of a wire 31 for corona discharge.
