NUCLEATION AGENTS FOR CRYSTALLINE POLYMERS

A moulding compsn. comprises polyethylene terephthalate and a 0.2-10% (based on wt. of PET) nuleating agent(I). (I) consists of a dimer acid and trimer acid mixt. The dimer acid has at least 36C atoms and 2 carboxyl gps. The trimer acid has at least 54C atoms and 3 carboxyl gps. The total amt. of carboxyl gps. is neutralized from 10-100 % by the cation of a Gp. IA metal. The mixt. contains 0-100 wt.% of the trimer acid. Pref. the cation is K or Na ion. Specifically Na cation is supplied by a cation-contg. material selected from Na, (bi) carbonate, and hydroxide. The compsn. may also contain a filler, plasticizer, impact modifier and/or polyepoxide.
