A clock case with a carrier plate which is surrounded by an aperture frame and is intended for the clockwork and minute wheel work is to be designed in such a manner that despite very different clock shapes depending on the selected viewing side of the clock case the complexity in terms of production with regard to individual parts to be provided and assembly requirements is reduced. For this purpose, on each of its surfaces the carrier plate has aperture frames of different configurations which protrude approximately axially parallel, surround the clockwork radially on one side and on the opposite side determine the geometry of the clock face. In each case depending on which side of the carrier plate is equipped the result is a clock in which either a relatively small clock face is surrounded by a relatively wide case boundary surface or in which a large clock face surrounded by a narrow front face dominates.
