The invention relates to a contrarotating positive displacement pump or to a correspondingly designed internal combustion engine. The object of the invention is to achieve as even a pressure build up as possible, combined with a favourable volume/performance ratio. This object is essentially achieved by each rotor (1,2,31) having preferably at least two sealing lobes (6 to 9, 32), by inlet and outlet ports (20 and 25, respectively, 20' and 25', respectively) being disposed so as to be point-symmetrically offset with respect to one another, and by the base body of the rotors (1,2,31) covering the inlet and outlet ports (20 and 25, respectively, 20' and 25', respectively) and only the recesses (16) provided in the region of the sealing lobes (6 to 9, 31) exposing the inlet and outlet port, (20 and 25, respectively, 20' and 25', respectively). <IMAGE>
