PURPOSE:A skin cosmetic that is obtained by adding a specific pivaloylascorbic acid to the base, thus showing high stability for a long period of time, giving good feeling on use without sking irritation and developing prevention of skin aging as well as skin color lightening. CONSTITUTION:A skin cosmetic with above-stated effects is obtained by adding, to the base, at least one of pivaloyl ascorbic acid selected from 2,5,6-tri-O- pivaloylascorbic acid, 3,5,6-tri-O-pivaloylascorbic acid and 2,3,5,6-tetra-O- pivaloylascorbic acid usually in a amount of 0.05-20wt% based on the total amount iof the cosmetic composition, e.g., 0.05-10wt% in cream or emulsion, 0.05-2.0wt% in aqueous clear cosmetic, 0.05-20wt% in oil cosmetic, 0.05-17wt% in cake cosmetic and 0.05-20wt% in powder cosmetic. |
