PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity, gradation, sensitivity in repeated uses, etc., by incorporating a specified hydrazine compd. in a photosensitive layer prepared by incorporating a photoconductive compd. into a binder. CONSTITUTION:The hydrazone compd. incorporated in the photosensitive layer is represented by formula [I] in which R1, R2 are each H, alkyl, alkoxy, aralkyl, or the like; R3 is H, methyl, or phenyl; R4, R5 are each alkyl or aralkyl; m is 1 or 2; and n is 0 or 1. The following types of the photosensitive layer are used: A single layer type photosensitive layer contg. photoconductive particles and the hydrazone compd., and a composite laminate type photosensitive layer composed of an electrostatic charge generating layer contg. the photoconductive particles, and a charge transfer layer contg. the hydrazone compd., etc. The use of the hydrazone compd. having such a benzyl phenyl ether group permits the induction effect to be effectively lowered, sensitivity, gradation, sensitivity in repeated uses, etc., to be improved, and therefore, superior characteristics to be exhibited when used for copying machines, laser printers, etc. |
