In a process for scrubbing out phosphorus hydrides or other alkaline contaminants, eg NH3, from gases, in particular from acetylene, by treatment with non-oxidising mineral acids, in particular phosphoric acid, the scrubbing acid being regenerated by oxidation after the scrubbing process, a solution is to be created by which the previously described disadvantages can be avoided, but by which, in particular, wet gases can be treated and the use of sulphuric acid can be dispensed with. This is achieved by using a 5-80% strength acid, in particular a 70% strength phosphoric acid as the scrubbing acid. <IMAGE> |
