The rescue net comprises a rectangular net surface 1 with meshes 2. At one end the net surface has a hauling rope 4 and at the opposite end a rescue line 7 with a float 8. Along the side edges 3 of the net surface 1 there are floats 12, which in use cause the net surface 1 to define a trough-shaped area in the water. The person to be rescued moves - or is guided - into this area, and the net surface 1 is fastened around the body of the person with the aid of snap hooks 10. In drawing in the net the meshes 2 are drawn up around the legs and body of the person, thereby ensuring that even an unconscious person cannot fall back into the water. <IMAGE>
