CERAMIC MOLD AND METHOD OF PRODUCTION

A ceramic mold for use in the production of powder metallurgy articles; the mold has a ceramic body with a mold cavity therein conforming substantially to the configuration or the article to be produced. The mold cavity is adapted to be filled with powdered metal which is then compacted to form the article. The improvement of the invention is the mold cavity having a continuous metal coating covering the entire surface thereof so that the powdered metal prior to and during compaction does not come into contact with and be contaminated by the ceramic of the mold body.
