PURPOSE:To improve the merit or prevent the lowering of the merit of a process, by introducing oxygen-enriched gas produced from air into carbon dioxide gas containing a small amount of reducing substance, thereby eliminating the reducing substance from the carbon dioxide gas. CONSTITUTION:A small amount of a reducing gas such as hydrogen gas existing in carbon dioxide gas is eliminated by the reaction with an oxygen-enriched gas. Oxygen or an oxygen-enriched gas having an oxygen concentration of >=70% and produced by the pressure-variation adsorption of air is added to carbon dioxide gas, and the reducing substance is oxidized to water or carbon dioxide. The amount of oxygen to be added to carbon dioxide is more than equivalent to the reducing substance. The improvement of the merit is remarkable especially in a large-sized plant. |
