Front and back plates(104,106) of the holder are permeable to X-rays, with a support(118) holding the plates overlapped. Cushions(108, 110) on the front and back sides are fixed to opposite faces of the plates. The cushions have convex surfaces curved in two directions and arranged so that the two directions cross. Intensifying screens (112,114) on the plates are fixed to and curved along the front and back convex surfaces. The X-ray film is held between the front and back plate intensifying screens by the resilient force of the front and back plate cushions.
