PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of surging at a medium speed range, by installing a valve gear, controlling exhaust flow to each turbine of both main and auxiliary superchargers, in an exhaust passage as well as installing a throttle valve gear in a compressor impeller outlet of the auxiliary supercharger. CONSTITUTION:In a low speed range, exhaust is made to flow into a turbine 5 of a main supercharger by a valve gear 10, stopping an auxiliary supercharger 9, and a throttle valve gear 14 comes to full close. At a medium speed range, the valve gear 10 is opened and distributes the exhaust even to a turbine 8 of the auxiliary supercharger 9. The throttle valve gear 14 is left fully closed intact till supercharging pressure reaches the specified one. With this constitution, a backflow of air and surging are prevented from occurring. When the supercharging pressure reaches the specified one, the throttle valve gear 14 opens, performing supercharging operation by the auxiliary supercharger. At a high speed range, both main and auxiliary superchargers both operate together. |
