摘要 PURPOSE:To shape a tip without stopping operation, to reduce frequency of exchanges and to eliminate defective welding in multiple spot welding using a welding robot, by indexing a welding gun to a shaping gauge by the robot and press-shaping the electrode tips. CONSTITUTION:A welding gun 5 is indexed successively from a pause tray 10 of home position to each spot position of an object to be welded by a welding robot in accordace with a specified schedule. After finishing all welding and before returning to the tray 10, it is indexed to an electrode tip shaping gauge 11 fixed near the tray 10. Then, movable and fixed electrode tips 7, 9 are inserted into gauge holes 12, 13 of the gauge 11 respectively, and pressed against the gauge 11 by an air pressure cylinder 6, and their tips are shaped. The gauge 11 has opposed holes 12, 13 along the central axis. The tips are easily guided by tapered parts 15, 16 and shaped to specified form in shaping sections 17, 18.
