PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of slip and the stop of rolling during running and to prevent a rolling stock from causing pores and internal cracks, by disposing 3 or 4 conical rolls around a pass line so as to make their slant angles, intersecting angles and inlet-side face angles satisfy specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:In an intersecting type skew rolling mill; conical rolls 1, 2, 3 are disposed so that the slant angle beta, intersecting angle gamma and inlet-side face angle theta of said roll satisfy the specific conditions of 0 deg.<gamma<15 deg., 3 deg.<beta<20 deg., 5 deg.<gamma+beta<30 deg. and 6 deg.<theta-gamma<25 deg.. Respective rolls are rotated in the same directions as shown by the arrow, and a hot rolling stock 10 bitten between these rolls is moved in the direction of its axial line XX while being rotated around its axial center line XX. That is, the rolling stock 10 is spirally moved. The stock 10 is subjected to high rolling reduction by roll biting parts A to reduce its outer diam. while being spirally moved between the rolls, and is formed into a metallic material of circular cross section, having a prescribed outer diam., by gorging parts 1a, 2a, 3a and outlet faces 1c, 2c, 3c, after the rolling-down face B of stock 10 is formed into a shape of circular truncated cone. |
