PURPOSE:To keep of the occurrence of knocking as well as to improve thermal durability ever so better, by operating a refrigerant feed pump forcibly in time of knocking detection, in case of a evaporative cooling device. CONSTITUTION:In case of a evaporative cooling device constituting a closed circulating system with a water jacket 12, a condenser 13 and a refrigerant feed pump 14, a knocking sensor 50 is installed in a cylinder. And, usually a cooling fan 24 and the pump 14 are controlled on the basis of each signal out of liquid level sensors 42 and 44 and a temperature sensor 43 or the like by a control unit 41, cut in time of knocking detection, forcibly the feed pump 14 is operated whereby a liquid phase refrigerant is fed to the water jacket 12. With this unusual operation, when a refrigerant inside the jacket runs short temporarily, it is supplied with a new one at once so that knocking in an engine is avoidable. |
