摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain Faraday effect and measure magnetic field intensity precisely, reduce the sensor in size on the whole, and improve spatial resolution by constituting a polarizer and an analyzer by using two right-angles prisms which are made of exactly the same material. CONSTITUTION:Incident light 11a is guided to the polarizer 13 and separated at a point P by a 'Polaroid(R)' film 13c between A and B into P polarized light 11e and S polarized light 11e; and the P polarized light 11e has its plane of polarization rotated in a magnetic field and is further separated at a point Q by a 'Polaroid(R)' film 14c between C and D into P polarized light 11b and S polarized light 11c. The intensities of those polarized light beams 11b and 11c as projection light beams are measured to calculate angles of rotation of the planes of polarization. In this case, the distance between the points P and Q corresponds to Faraday element length, a Berde constant is calculated from the materials of the two right-angled prisms 13a and 14b which are shown by DELTAABC and DELTACBD and have the sandwiched films 13c and 14c, and the intensi ty of the magnetic field is calculated on the basis of the angles of rotation, Faraday element length, and constant.
