PURPOSE:To make such a valve characteristic as being conformable to requirements attainable, by combining a pair of suction or exhaust valves with a pair of rocker arms capable of connection and vice versa, and making one side of these arms contact with low, medium speed cam but other side one with a high speed cam, respectively, while installing a stop mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A pair of suction valves or exhaust valves are installed in each cylinder, and a first rocker arm 4 is driven by a low, medium speed cam while a second rocker cam 5 is driven by a high speed cam, respectively. At a tip end of the second rocker arm 5, there is provided with a plunger 7 which comes into contact with a valve stem tip and, locked at a projecting position in time of being engaged with an engaging plate 28, goes back to the rear when the engaging plate 28 comes off, while it is so constituted as to interlock with a piston 41 which controls connection or disconnection for the engaging plate 28 and two rocker arms, whereby in time of low, medium speed in an engine, one valve is opened or closed by the low, medium speed cam but in time of high speed, two valves are driven by the high speed cam. |
