PURPOSE:To obtain easily an optically active cyclopentenone useful as intermediates for drugs, agricultural chemicals, by hyrolyzing asymmetrically a specific dl-cyclopentenone ester with esterase. CONSTITUTION:A dl-cyclopentenone ester (e.g., dl-2-proparglyl-4-acetoxy-2- cyclopentenone) shown by the formula I (R' is alkyl or alkenyl which may be replaced with halogen) is asymmetrically hydrolyzed with esterase, to give the aimed optically active cyclopentenone (e.g., l-2-propargyl-4-hydroxy-2- cyclopentenone) shown by the formula II (R is H, or R'CO; is asymmetric carbon). The compound shown by the formula I is synthesized by reacting dl-2-proparglyl-4-hydroxy-2-cyclopentenone with an organic carboxylic acid. |
