The steepness limiter adapts the upper limit frequency of each magnitude with an arbitrary unipolar or bipolar curve form to a max. switching velocity of the power stage, determined by the adjusting elements (3-4) and a load impedance (17). The current supply comprises a discontinuous push-button control (16) with both the pulse width and interval dependent on the load. Each of the adjusting elements in a bridge circuit has its own energising and monitoring circuit (21-24) and an attenuation circuit (27-30), matching the respective load. A logic circuit prevents overloading of each adjusting element caused by faulty switching combinations in the sequence, pulse interval, and width of different clock pulses.
