The invention relates to a process for producing a pulverulent fuel from cellulose-rich wastes such as domestic refuse, commercial waste, and residues from agriculture and forestry. To produce a fuel for pulverised-fuel firing without additional concentrating of pollutants and without costs for safety engineering in storage, handling and transport, it is proposed that the organic fraction is first, in a manner known per se, separated off, dried and briketted and that the briketted wastes are not ground down to powder until just before the combustion.
