A frequency hopping data transmission system is described. A pseudo-noise generator generates two frequency hopping codes at the transmitting end according to the two states of a binary data signal to be transmitted. A modulator connected downstream of the pseudo-noise generator, controlled by the binary data signal, forwards either the one or the other frequency hopping code to a frequency synthesiser. A further pseudo-noise generator which is synchronised with the pseudo-noise generator at the transmitting end generates the same two frequency hopping codes at the receiving end and controls the tuning of the receiver section to the reception frequency which is to be expected at the respective time. <IMAGE>
