PURPOSE:To extract burst data surely and accurately by transmitting specific continuous pattern data when burst data is not transmitted and adding a start code and the illegal code of the continuous pattern to the beginning and the end of burst data to transmit it when burst data is transmitted. CONSTITUTION:Generally, a synchronizing code CC consisting of repeat pattern '10' as shown in a figure (a) is added to the beginning of burst data BD, and this synchronizing code CC is transmitted as a start code. When the transmission of burst data BD is terminated, a transmission control circuit 15 sets a multiplexer 14 to the side of an illegal code generating circuit 13, and an illegal code NC generated by the illegal code generating circuit 13 is selected by the multiplexer 14 and is transmitted to an optical transmitter 30. Meanwhile, a repeater 20 in the reception side starts extracting burst data in a data extracting circuit 28 when a start code detecting circuit 26 detects the arrival of this start code and outputs the detection signal. |
