摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To provide a sufficiently large interval between mutually adjacent articles so as to correctly count articles, thus enabling a prescribed number of article to be placed on an elevator, by setting the speed of lower second conveyors larger than that of upper first conveyors, when those articles are transported from a rack onto the elevator. CONSTITUTION:When an instruction is issued to a stacker crane to get N pieces of article 3 on the shelf of address A delivered, said crane is started in its operation to shift and position an elevator in said address A, and to extend its slide fork toward the rack housing the article (s) 3 inside a rack being lifted by means of first conveyors 7a, 7b of a slide fork, thereafter upper conveyors 7-a, 7-b are driven in normal turn at lower speed than that of lower side second conveyors 8a, 8b, then articles being transported toward the elevator at sufficient intervals. While, number of article 3 is correctly counted by sensors 9-c, 9-d installed in the position of a joint between the first and second conveyors. When this count reaches N, the first conveyor is turned in reverse direction so as to stack only N pieces of article 3 onto the elevator by means of the second conveyor.</p>
