PURPOSE:To improve preservation stability of an alkali battery by restricting generation of hydrogen gas and thereby limiting an increase in the inside pressure of the battery through the use of a negative electrode black mix which employs quaternary ammonium salt as anticorrosive agent for active material of the negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode black mix has to comprise active material of the negative electrode made from activated metal, preferably zinc or zinc alloy, electrolytic liquid in the form of caustic alkali solution and quaternary ammonium salt. The quaternary ammonium salt having the following formula can function as anticorrosive agent for the active material of the negative electrode. The mixing volume of the anticorrosive agent is to electrolytic liquid used, 0.0001-10mol/l or to zinc, 0.0001-50millimol/g, or preferably 0.002-1.0mol/l or to zinc, 0.001-5mollimol/g. |
