The invention relates to a deflecting arrangement for scanning, display and printing devices. The characteristic feature is the coincidence evaluation of the agreement between a helical line, whose points describe a rotating cylinder wall, and a selection line extending along this cylinder wall. In a special embodiment, this line is a point (for application as a length-measuring system) or a surface for application as a scanning system for relief images. The following exemplary embodiments are described in the present invention: electronic image scanning and generation suitable for very high pixel frequency, using the electrostatic and optoelectronic principle; capacitive scanning arrangements suitable for stored preserves and relief images, in particular coins; special advancing system, especially for comparing images (banknotes and signatures). A special arrangement for scanning fractions of pF is likewise described, as well as an arrangement for image correction in automatic copiers. Special applications of the invention are, in addition, phase-angle sensors which can be coded by a capacitive pattern or by a resistance track in accordance with an arbitrary function.
