Method for measuring distortion effects in an electro-acoustic transducer, in particular a loudspeaker, headphones or the like. The transducer is activated sinusoidally by a sine-wave generator. The acoustic signal of the transducer is preferably received by a sound pick-up. A signal impaired by the distortion effect is sampled and subjected to analog/digital conversion and to a digital filtering process. The sum of the harmonics representing the distortion effect is separated from the useful signal without corrupting their phase angles, the curve pattern of the useful signal is compared at specific points with the curve pattern of the signal impaired by the distortion effect and the difference between the compared patterns is assessed as a distortion effect whenever a predefined limit value is exceeded.
