COMBUSTIBLE GAS PRODUCER PLANT

Combustible gas producer (10) plant includes a fluidised bed (11) of inert particulate material to which fuel is fed for partial combustion. The bed is fluidised with steam and/or air and a combustible gas is produced by the incomplete combustion of fuel the dissociation of steam and the water gas reaction in the hot bed. At least part of the combustible gas produced is recycled and passed back into the bed. The steam may be generated by a boiler superheater (19) through which the combustible gases exiting from the bed pass. Gas tight fuel feeding (27) and ash removal arrangements (80) are described enabling the pressure in the bed to be maintained super-atmospheric. Control of the plant is effected by an on-line microprocessor.
