The chargeable use of a television set by a plurality of people is made possible in that, via a telephone set, an identifying code for traffic discrimination and, by subsequently dialling a digit, a central detection and control device is caused to store the instantaneous time. Subsequently, the television set is switched on and the audio of the television set is connected through to the person-specific control device to which a headset is connected. The television set is switched off in the same manner, charging information, which is used for subsequent billing, being determined in the central detection and control device on the basis of the time information.
